Today I am sharing my favorite parenting books that I’ve read in the past three years. Now keep in mind that I don’t like or even agree with every single thing in each of these books. I have listed the books that I like and agree with most of the ideas written inside.

You don’t have to agree with every parenting tip 100%. I love reading parenting book in hopes of finding one or two tools that will benefit my family.

Favorite Parenting Books

-Chicken Soup for the New Mom’s Soul: This book is perfect for a brand new mom to read. It helped me feel not so alone in the things I was going through related to motherhood in the beginning. I wish someone would have given this to me at my baby shower so I could have read it right after I had the baby. It would have helped me more to read it sooner.

-The Magic of Motherhood: Another good book for a new mom. Or for anyone who needs a little reminder of how to enjoy motherhood more. It helped me appreciate being a mom. I love how the layout of this book as well as the content.

-On Becoming Babywise: Giving Your Infant the Gift of Nighttime Sleep: So great for parents wanting to help their baby sleep better.

-Love & Logic: For Early Childhood Practical Parenting from Birth to Six Years: I love this book. It is full of wonderful parenting tools to use. My family uses many of the techniques found in this book and it has made a huge difference in behavior.

-The Whole Brain Child: This book is so great! It helps explain child behaviors with a basis in science. I liked learning about how the different parts of the brain can influence behavior. It helped me learn the difference between certain types of temper tantrums. It also has some great tools to implement with your kids.

It’s Okay Not to Share and Other Renegade Rules for Raising Competent and Compassionate Kids: This is a must-read. This book is packed full of parenting tools to try. I have started using a lot of them and I am loving the results. It teaches how to help children be more compassionate.

-Being There: Why Prioritizing Motherhood in the First Three Years Matters: If you are struggling with my decision to be a stay-at-home mom or a full-time-working mom or a part-time-working mom, this book can help you make a decision that works best for your family. This book does not bash working mothers, but it provides ideas on making the most of the time we do get with our children. It talks about being present with our children when we are with them.

-The Artful Parent: This book is so inspiring. It talks about how to help your children fall in love with art and develop their creativity. As I was reading this book, I could not wait to start implementing the ideas provided.
